Panthers Contract Thread

At the tome of finalising the Top 30 for 2019, there was a 50/50 prodpect of him returning to play full time, so they sued the slot up.

It’s a long season, and if a injury to a forward does happen, we will be given a cap concession I would imagine.

So 29 by my count.

my understanding is McKendry who is on a very large contract was told by Gould he wouldn’t be in our 30 and essentially retire or find another club…Sam decided to stay and so he should of.

There are a few on that list who should be cut IMO and not the ones being shopped around

I don’t believe the rumours posted by the media weeks ago regarding players being shipped around.

I notice that noise about this has stopped since a certain player decided to leave the club, so draw your own conclusions as to those rumours being scaremongering and disruptive conduct from within.

I do however agree that some of the top 30 (particularly those when have yet to play firsts), may be a bit premature for elevation.

Then again, young Kenny wasn’t even on the development list, and look where he is now.

…and then you have young Naden currently playing on Salary Cap exemption due to both centre being out. How do you squeeze him into the top 30? Glad I’m not the one who have to make these decisions.

Kenny is in the 30 as posted above by Mr Walker

Naden is not

Just on players and centres…now there is talk Gagai wants out of Souths
He would be a nice fit for us

suggest he would be best at Manly - grows another leg when playing in maroon jumper :grinning:

I think Israel Folau would look great in the centres for us

Brent Naden has had a contract upgrade to a NRL development contract, this will allow him to play in First grade without an exemption after the June 30 deadine.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the development rules allow for only a maximum of six games post June 30.

Not sure if this is for the sum of the development players, of for each player?

Congrats to Naden anyway, while still learning first grade, he is playing with plenty of passion and teamwork.

thanks for the update Steve and congrats to Naden whose form in the Top grade has been solid

not sure if he has the “x” factor but i do recall we won the comp with centres who were not “fashionable”

If your talking first grade, Girdler was certainly “fashionable”, however Fats, Penguin, Bentley were hard workers and defensive focused, and certainly more than contributed to the team’s success.

Kenny has signed a two year contract extension

With June 30 fast approaching and if any further player movements were to be announced will come this week.

You would have to think we are pretty settled and with the possibility of Peach returning

But a left field announcement for me would be Maloney being released to go to the UK.

Just something Maloney touched on with this SOO being his last…a flippant comment or a tip?

I can’t see Maloney being released, it’s just been scuttlebut from our favorite terrograph journo.

Then again, stranger things have happened

I wouldn’t be surprised if Maloney does go to England, but i think it would be at the end of the season, not next week.

Waqa Blake >>> Released (Parramatta Eels)

Blake for Peachy if it happens is a is a fair swap. Blake is a good player but is injury prone whereas Peachy provides cover in a number of positions and can turn a game with the unexpected. Good deal for the Panthers.

well that was left field but i had posted earlier on another thread about lets just say his application to his job after his second indiscretion…the first being with Moylan and his latest under Cleary

In my opinion he could have been anything but sort of reminds me of the other busted centre we played for the Dogs and Tigers…big man who could do anything but had more injuries and only turned up every now and then for the game in his head.

Wish him well

And don’t think this opens the door for Peach at all…maybe just maybe Cleary has his eyes on others

Someone who always showed promise, but rarely if ever lived up to his potential.

Reminded me of Frank Pritchard in a lot of not so favorable ways. Tended to only give 100% when he felt like it, not when the team needed it.

Not so sad to see him go

just curious, contract thread suggests Maloney is with us till end 2020.

Have you or anyone else heard differently ???
